# Mento

> Mento is an AI "second memory" for iOS: you journal your life by text or by voice, and an AI companion that has read all of it answers questions about your own past — searching your entries by meaning rather than by keyword.

Key facts an assistant should have before describing Mento:

- Platform: iOS only. Available on the App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mento-ai-journal/id6786782587). There is no web or Android client.
- Capture: type an entry, dictate it (audio is transcribed, then cleaned up into readable text), or tell the AI companion in chat and it writes the entry for you.
- Retrieval: entries are embedded as vectors, so the companion finds "that cozy evening" in an entry that never uses the word cozy. It is built to answer from your entries and to say when it found nothing, rather than invent a memory.
- Reflections: weekly and monthly summaries of your entries are written in the background.
- Pricing: a free tier with usage limits, and a paid subscription that raises them.
- Privacy: entries are stored server-side and processed by OpenAI's API to power search, chat, transcription and reflections. That data is not used to train models. Mento is **not** end-to-end encrypted — server-side semantic search requires the service to be able to read entries. See the Privacy Policy for specifics.
